eResearch

Activities

There is currently a range of eResearch activities at the University listed on the Online Research Collections Australia (ORCA) Support Network Wiki. This Wiki is an informal register of knowledge and discussion about the activities and entities associated with the ORCA Support Network. The ORCA Support Network includes the University of Melbourne and other Australian Universities.

To foster the eResearch community at the University of Melbourne, VeRSI (Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative), the Director eResearch and the eScholarship Research Centre are cooperating to provide a weekly opportunity to network and discuss topics around eResearch with colleagues and interested people here at the University. The attendance to each of the network sessions varies depending on the proposed topic of discussion. Melbourne University eCoffee mornings are held on Tuesdays at 11.00 am on the ground floor of the Baillieu Library.

In second semester of 2009, the Tuesday morning coffee is being replaced by Life Sciences Seminars on Fridays at 12.00 - visit the VeRSI website for more information.

The annual eResearch Symposium gives a snapshot of current eResearch activities from local, national and international perspectives. Whether you are currently using technologies in your research activities, or are just curious about the capabilities or potential of such use, all are welcome to attend. In 2009, the Symposium was held in conjunction with the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) on 29-30 September.
