eResearch

Groups and Projects

There are a number of groups supporting and fostering the eResearch community at the University of Melbourne .

Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative (VeRSI)VeRSI

VeRSI is a joint venture between Multimedia Victoria, the Department of Primary Industries and
Melbourne, Monash and La Trobe Universities. VeRSI provides a coordinated and accelerated approach to the uptake of eResearch by Victorian researchers.

See the VeRSI website for more details on their wide range of activities.

Research Computing Services

The Research Computing Services section supports the ICT requirements of researchers across the University which are beyond what is expected to be provided by their faculty. It does this by providing a range of physical resources together with advice, training and consulting in the most effective means of using these resources to further the researchers' needs. Where this results in changed methods or major productivity improvements this may be referred to as 'eResearch'.

The physical resources managed by the group are made available as a number of services. These are grouped as Computing Services, Data Services and Visualisation Services. We also offer Grid services. A full list of services, who can access them, and their availability can be found at http://www.hpc.unimelb.edu.au/RCS-services.html

eScholarship Research Centre (eSRC)

The eSRC is a research centre in the Library - a centre outside the faculty structure. The Centre's strengths are in cultural informatics, archives, digitisation, data preservation and sustainable information systems for research.

See the eSRC website for their range of services, digital publications, historical resources and collections.
