Research Data Capabilities Group

The Research Data Capabilities Group members have jointly developed expertise and infrastructure through work in supporting various data management platforms (including the Neuro-imaging community at the Howard Florey Institute and the Centre for Neuroscience). The group is actively pursuing opportunities to provision and evolve a Sustainable Data Management Capability (SDMC) for the research community building upon existing expertise and infrastructure.

Research groups repeatedly obtain separate funding to develop their own independent capability to establish data management requirements, select technology, and then implement a system. Most data management systems are “silos” re-inventing a lot of the same foundation capabilities. Capability intersection may include one or more of: problem analysis, design patterns, object/data models and technology components. The group is actively pursuing opportunities to provision and evolve a Sustainable Data Management Capability (SDMC) for the research community building upon existing expertise and infrastructure.
